![]() They are identical in every way to a legitimate e-mail from Steam, except in my case they mistakenly assumed that I was using my e-mail address as my account name. This confirmed that these e-mails are fake, but they are extremely good forgeries. My account name happens to be something completely different. ![]() "If they are using your correct account name in the header." It finally dawned on me that they were not using my account name, they were using the first part of my e-mail address. At last while looking through one of the threads I found a key phrase from someone. I changed my password multiple times to no avail. I began receiving them several months ago and was quite perplexed. Before nuking your OS, these e-mails are a scam. up to and including a clean re-boot of the OS. There has been a lot of advice given, and it generally centers around anti-virus scanning etc. I have been seeing a lot of these posts on steam, as to weather these emails are a scam.
